Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

July 12

The Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will make its second-to-last stop in Scotland for the first time in its 27-year history, specifically in Oban on July 12, 2024.

The Clipper Race is widely recognised as one of the most demanding endurance trials on Earth, inviting individuals from diverse backgrounds to participate in the extraordinary endeavour of sailing across the world’s oceans aboard a 70ft yacht. This exceptional event involves teams facing challenging conditions during its eleven-month journey around the world. Nine Scottish crew members are participating in the Clipper 2023-24 Race, which consists of eight legs. By the time the teams reach Oban, they will have sailed nearly 40,000 nautical miles and crossed six oceans.

Upon reaching Oban, the teams will have traversed approximately 40,000 nautical miles and crossed six vast oceans. Oban serves as the final destination before the emotional return home. It signifies the completion of the North Atlantic crossing, providing the crew with a brief period to reflect before they begin the short yet intense race back to the finish line in Portsmouth.
